Baker Louisiana- Seeking Coaches andVolunteers for 2025 Season
The purpose of COBRA is to bring a variety of fitness, sports, and leisure opportunities to the citizens of the Baker and North Baton Rouge area.
I had the pleasure of getting a glimpse of the COBRA organization at work. For those that do not know COBRA is the City of Baker Recreation Administration. The purpose of COBRA is to bring a variety of fitness, sports, and leisure opportunities to the citizens of the Baker and North Baton Rouge area.
Cobra’s director, Coach Gerald Collins greeted me when I visited one of the practices that were being held at Baker Recreation Center on Alabama Street in Baker, Louisiana. There, he began to tell me about the exciting plans and upcoming games that were in place for the organization.
“I’ve been doing this for over 24 years, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It has been a fulfilling adventure for sure,” says Coach Gerald.
I walked around to get a closer look, and it warmed my heart to see so many children interacting and working together. The smiles and laughter that were displayed were the most prominent. Even with the handful of coaches and volunteers, they all displayed great conduct and leadership.
COBRA requires more coaches and volunteers for the new year’s season. They are looking for resolute individuals who are willing to volunteer their time to continue to keep the youth of this community involved in clear-cut and positive activities. Practices are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. Contact Coach Gerald Collins at 225-205-4652 or Coach Brandon McGee at 225-571-5160 to sign up or volunteer.
