BATON ROUGE, La. — Emile Lobrano Edwards, the beloved father of East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards, passed away Sunday at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, faith, and unwavering devotion to family.

A man of deep character and humility, Emile Edwards was the kind of father whose example shaped generations. His steady presence and principled life were deeply woven into the values his son now carries as a leader in one of Louisiana’s largest parishes.

Mayor Edwards paid tribute to his father in a heartfelt message on Monday, writing:
“Honoring the life of my dad, Emile Lobrano Edwards—a true hero in every sense. Your legacy of strength and love lives on in us. My family and I appreciate all the prayers and support.”

Though not a public figure, Emile Edwards had an enduring influence on those around him. Friends and neighbors remember a man who led with quiet dignity and lived with purpose rooted in faith, family, and service.

The community is invited to honor his life during funeral services scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church, located at 7808 St. George Drive in Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.

As the Edwards family grieves, Baton Rouge stands beside them, remembering a man whose legacy lives on not just in his son’s leadership but in the lives he quietly touched with compassion, wisdom, and grace.
