Boil & Roux closes After a decade, owners call for equality in business
After 10 years of serving the Baton Rouge community Boil & Roux has announced its permanent closure.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Boil & Roux, a popular seafood restaurant on Coursey Boulevard, has announced its permanent closure after 10 years of serving the Baton Rouge community.

In a heartfelt social media post, the owners reflected on the restaurant’s legacy as a hub for creating memories and celebrating Louisiana’s culinary traditions. They thanked loyal patrons and encouraged followers to “stay connected” for updates on future endeavors.

Despite its popularity, Boil & Roux encountered significant legal and financial hurdles during its decade-long run. In April 2023, the restaurant retained its liquor license following a citation for hosting a Cinco de Mayo event without the required permit. Additionally, court records show an eviction lawsuit in 2020 over nearly $18,000 in unpaid rent, which was eventually dismissed in January 2021.

The owners voiced frustration over systemic challenges, emphasizing minority-owned businesses' obstacles. “We must be welcomed in this city to serve our community without being judged by the color of our skin,” they stated. “True progress comes when all businesses, regardless of ownership, are given equal opportunities to thrive.”

The restaurant’s Google business profile now lists Boil & Roux as permanently closed. Further details, including the exact closing date, have not been confirmed.

Boil & Roux leaves behind a legacy of community connection and a call for equitable treatment of all entrepreneurs striving to succeed in Baton Rouge.
