BRCC, EBR Schools Celebrate Dual Enrollment Success at Special Reception
Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith welcomed East Baton Rouge Parish School System Superintendent LaMont Cole during a special evening reception on the BRCC Mid City campus.

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) hosted a special evening reception at its Mid City campus to celebrate the flourishing partnership with East Baton Rouge Parish Schools, a collaboration that is helping shape brighter futures for local students.

Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith welcomed East Baton Rouge Parish School System Superintendent LaMont Cole to the event, where the dual enrollment program between BRCC and EBR Schools took center stage. This initiative allows high school students to earn college credits while completing their high school education, offering them a head start on their higher education journey.

Highlighting the success of this program, several students from Glen Oaks Magnet High School’s first dual enrollment cohort shared their inspiring stories. These students are on track to graduate this spring with not only their high school diplomas but also associate degrees from BRCC, an impressive feat that demonstrates the power of educational collaboration.

“The dual enrollment program is a game-changer, and it’s a true testament to the strength of our partnership with EBR Schools,” said Dr. Smith. “Together, we’re not just educating; we’re empowering the next generation to reach new heights.”

The event underscored the ongoing impact of this partnership, with both BRCC and EBR Schools committed to providing students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in college and beyond. It is a partnership that is not only benefitting students today but also building a foundation for a stronger future in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
