WASHINGTON — In a decisive move that could reshape the Democratic primary landscape, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as their candidate for the 2024 presidential election. This announcement, delivered with enthusiasm by CBC Chairman Congressman Stephen Horsford, marks a significant moment in the race.

Speaking from Nevada, the first battleground state in the primary season, Horsford expressed his excitement about Harris's candidacy, highlighting the considerable grassroots support and financial backing she has received. "In just the last 24 hours, we’ve witnessed a surge of over one million grassroots supporters and more than $100 million in donations, primarily from first-time contributors," Horsford said. "This level of engagement underscores the broad appeal and momentum behind Kamala Harris."

Horsford emphasized that Harris represents the nation, aligning with the CBC's priorities of advancing economic opportunities and ensuring women's reproductive rights protection. "We are a multiracial, multigenerational society," he asserted. "Kamala Harris embodies the values and progress we seek. Her candidacy is a commitment to addressing the pressing issues of today and moving forward."

The endorsement comes amid harsh criticism and controversy, with some opponents deploying derogatory rhetoric against Harris. Addressing these attacks, Horsford urged the campaign and the media to confront them directly. "When attacks are made on DEI and other progressive values, they are attacks on all of us," he said. "Kamala Harris is the most qualified candidate to unite our country and lead us forward."

Horsford also aimed at former President Donald Trump's agenda, describing it as divisive and detrimental to essential services and benefits. "Trump's Project 2025 is focused on benefiting the ultra-wealthy and big corporations at the expense of working Americans," he said. "In contrast, Kamala Harris's vision is about inclusivity and empowerment for all."

With the CBC's backing, Harris's campaign is poised to capitalize on the growing support and financial influx as she prepares for the primaries. "This is a democracy that thrives on participation and unity," Horsford concluded. "We all have a role to play in shaping our future. Let's stand together and support Kamala Harris."

As the 2024 election cycle gains momentum, Harris's endorsement by the Congressional Black Caucus positions her as a formidable contender, reflecting the shifting dynamics within the Democratic Party and setting the stage for a pivotal primary season.
