East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Names New Chief of Staff

BATON ROUGE, La. — East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards has appointed Lon Vicknair as the new chief of staff, a role that involves overseeing city-parish departments and coordinating special projects and interdepartmental initiatives.
Vicknair, a retired naval officer with 20 years of service, brings extensive leadership experience to the position. His military career included deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, and the Horn of Africa.
“I’m excited to work for the citizens of Baton Rouge and Mayor Edwards to ensure Baton Rouge becomes the city our children want to call home and sets an example for other southern cities,” Vicknair said.
Before this appointment, Vicknair served as senior commercial manager for PSC Group, where he managed logistics and sustainability operations across facilities in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, and California.
In addition to his professional experience, Vicknair actively volunteers as a reserve police officer for the city of Central and serves as president of the Central Veterans Memorial.
The mayor’s office expressed confidence in Vicknair’s leadership and vision to help drive the city-parish toward continued growth and progress.
