BATON ROUGE, La. — In response to the widespread destruction caused by Tropical Storm Beryl, Governor Jeff Landry has declared a State of Emergency to mobilize resources and support recovery efforts across Louisiana.

Governor Landry signed an executive order following the storm's impact as it moved from Texas into western Louisiana on Monday, July 8. The storm's outer bands unleashed torrential rains and high winds, resulting in one fatality, extensive damage to homes and businesses, and leaving thousands without power.

"This State of Emergency will enable parishes affected by Beryl to access state resources as we begin the recovery process," Governor Landry stated. "We remain in constant contact with first responders and local officials and will support them every step of the way."

The emergency declaration is designed to streamline the provision of aid and ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the impacted areas. By granting affected parishes access to state resources, the order aims to expedite recovery and provide immediate assistance where it is needed most.

The governor's office emphasized the importance of this swift action to mitigate the storm's effects and safeguard the welfare of Louisiana's citizens. The coordinated response will involve multiple state agencies working in unison to deliver essential services, restore power, and rebuild damaged infrastructure.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and adhere to safety guidelines as recovery efforts commence. The State of Emergency underscores the commitment of Louisiana's leadership to stand with its communities during this challenging time and ensure a resilient recovery.
