Joyce Beatty Sounds the Alarm: “Trump and House Republicans Are Dismantling Democracy in Broad Daylight
Beatty says Trump and his extremist allies are waging war on the Constitution, using executive orders, secret backroom deals, and outright corruption to seize control.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a scathing rebuke of Donald Trump, House Republicans, and the Project 2025 agenda, Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) is calling on Americans to take action before it’s too late. Beatty warns that Trump’s allies are executing an unprecedented power grab—one that threatens Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the very foundation of American democracy.
"This is not politics as usual—this is an all-out assault on our democracy, on our economy, and on the American people," Beatty declared. "They are rigging the system, stealing your data, and gutting the programs millions rely on. And they are doing it in plain sight."
Illegal Power Grabs and the Project 2025 Playbook
Beatty says Trump and his extremist allies are waging war on the Constitution, using executive orders, secret backroom deals, and outright corruption to seize control. Central to this effort, she argues, is Project 2025, a right-wing agenda designed to:
- Slash Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—putting the financial security of millions of seniors and working families at risk.
- Drive up the cost of gas, groceries, and medicine through reckless tariffs and deregulation.
- Defund key federal programs that working-class Americans depend on.
- Rewrite the rules to give Trump and his allies unchecked power—no matter what the Constitution says.
"Make no mistake—this is a calculated, deliberate, and dangerous attempt to dismantle our democracy and put power in the hands of the few at the expense of the many," Beatty warned.
Massive Data Breach: "This Is Corruption on a Scale We’ve Never Seen Before"
Beatty is also raising the alarm over reports that Trump’s so-called ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ illegally accessed the Treasury Department’s payment systems, potentially compromising millions of Americans’ Social Security and Medicare data.
"This is one of the worst violations of public trust in U.S. history," Beatty said. "They are weaponizing the government against the very people they claim to serve."
Democrats are demanding an investigation into the breach, with Beatty calling it "criminal, unconstitutional, and a direct attack on the financial security of every American."
The Stop the Steal Act: Democrats Take Action
To fight back against what she calls the biggest executive overreach in modern history, Beatty is backing the newly introduced Stop the Steal Act, championed by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. The bill seeks to:
- Shut down illegal executive orders that strip power from Congress.
- Protect Americans’ private financial data from unauthorized access.
- Block Republican efforts to defund Medicaid and cut Social Security benefits.
- Stop economic rollbacks that would raise everyday costs for working families.
"We are not going to sit back and let Trump and his enablers destroy our democracy, defund our safety nets, and rob Americans of their rights," Beatty said. "This is a fight for the soul of our nation."
Ohio at the Center of the Fight
Beatty is putting Ohio Republicans on notice, demanding they take a stand before it's too late.
"Ohio Republicans have the power to stop this," she said. "But will they? Or will they sit back and watch as Trump and his cronies dismantle our democracy piece by piece?"
She is calling on every Ohio voter to call, email, and pressure Republican lawmakers to take action.
"If they refuse to act, history will remember them for their cowardice. But if we fight together, we will win," she vowed.
Republicans Remain Silent
So far, GOP leaders have not directly responded to Beatty’s accusations, instead continuing to push Project 2025 as a so-called "reform effort."
Beatty: “We Will Not Let This Stand”
Beatty made it clear that Democrats will use every tool available to stop Trump’s illegal actions, protect the Constitution, and defend the American people.
"We have already launched lawsuits. We are pushing back in Congress. And we are mobilizing across this country," she said. "This is our fight. This is our democracy. And we are not backing down."
