BATON ROUGE, La. — A transformative new chapter in senior healthcare is beginning in Baton Rouge. CareSouth Medical & Dental, in partnership with the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA), has officially broken ground on a cutting-edge geriatric medical facility at the heart of the nationally recognized Lotus Village.
The groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Jan. 17, at 749 Scenic Highway, celebrated years of visionary planning to deliver a facility that will revolutionize senior care in the region. Once completed, the three-story, 35,000-square-foot state-of-the-art clinic will provide a comprehensive range of health and wellness services—all under one roof.
“This isn’t just a building; it’s a beacon of hope for our senior community,” said Matthew Vallaire, CEO of CareSouth. “We’re taking senior healthcare to the next level, ensuring our elders have access to the kind of care and support they deserve.”
The new facility will offer primary care, cardiology, dental services, dermatology, behavioral health, podiatry, and an in-house pharmacy. Additionally, a therapeutic gym featuring a therapy pool will provide seniors with innovative fitness and rehabilitation options. A multipurpose training and meeting room will serve as a vital space for community education and engagement.
Lotus Village, already a thriving hub for senior living, will further cement its status as a leader in senior innovation. Tasha Clark Amar, CEO of EBRCOA, emphasized the clinic’s role in empowering seniors to lead healthier, more independent lives.
“This facility is a promise to our seniors that they are valued,” said Amar. “It’s more than a healthcare center—it’s a symbol of our commitment to their well-being, dignity, and quality of life.”
The project also brings economic growth to Baton Rouge, creating new jobs during construction and ongoing employment opportunities once the facility opens its doors. With program management led by the LaFleur/Tillage JV, and collaboration from Brian LaFleur and Tasha Amar, this community-driven project reflects the power of local partnerships.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the facility will include stormwater management systems to minimize flooding risks, setting a standard for environmentally responsible development in the area.
Scheduled for completion by February 2026, this cutting-edge clinic is poised to become a cornerstone of senior healthcare in Baton Rouge, ensuring that residents can age with dignity and access the highest quality of care.
