Lotus Village Welcomes New Geriatric Health Facility
The three-story, 35,000-square-foot facility is designed to provide a wide array of health and wellness services tailored to the needs of seniors in the community.
BATON ROUGE, La. — A new chapter in senior health care is unfolding in Baton Rouge with the upcoming construction of a state-of-the-art geriatric medical facility at Lotus Village. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Friday, Jan. 17, at 749 Scenic Highway, marking the culmination of years of planning between CareSouth Medical and Dental and the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA).
The three-story, 35,000-square-foot facility is designed to provide a wide array of health and wellness services tailored to the needs of seniors in the community. Residents will have access to primary care, dental care, dermatology, cardiology, behavioral health, podiatry, and pharmacy services. The building will also feature a therapeutic gym with a therapy pool and a multipurpose training and meeting room.
“This facility is a game-changer for our senior community,” said Matthew Vallaire, CEO of CareSouth. “We are bringing comprehensive, high-quality care directly to an area that needs it the most.”
Lotus Village, a nationally recognized senior village, has already established itself as a hub for senior living and community engagement. Tasha Clark Amar, CEO of EBRCOA, emphasized the importance of the new clinic in supporting seniors' independence and quality of life.
“For seniors to live longer and healthier lives, access to essential health care services is critical,” said Amar. “This facility will provide everything they need under one roof, creating a truly supportive environment for our seniors.”
Beyond health services, the project aims to benefit the local community through job creation. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate employment opportunities, further enhancing the area's economic landscape.
Special attention has also been given to environmental considerations, with the facility’s design addressing stormwater management to minimize flooding risks in the area.
Construction is scheduled for completion by February 2026. The groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 17 will begin at 11 a.m., celebrating the beginning of a project that promises to transform senior care in Baton Rouge.
