Dadrius Lanus steps in as the Louisiana Democratic Party’s new executive director, bringing bold leadership and a vision to energize voters and rebuild the party’s foundation.
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Democratic Party has appointed Dadrius Lanus as its new executive director, concluding an extensive five-month search for a leader to drive party revitalization. Lanus will oversee efforts to rebuild the party’s infrastructure, expand grassroots engagement, and forge strategic alliances to strengthen Democratic influence across the state.
Who Is Dadrius Lanus?
Lanus, a dynamic leader and community advocate, currently serves as the executive director of 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge and is a member of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board. His appointment, recommended by Party Chair Randal Gaines, received unanimous approval from the party’s executive committee.
“Dadrius Lanus embodies the visionary leadership, strategic acumen, and passion required to transform the Louisiana Democratic Party,” said Gaines. “His unwavering commitment to progressive change and his ability to galvanize diverse communities will be pivotal in driving our movement forward.”
A Champion for Education and Social Justice
A lifelong advocate for educational equity, Lanus has dedicated his career to empowering Black and Brown communities throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. He has made it his mission to reignite the spirit of the “Poor People’s Campaign” by equipping students, teachers, and community stakeholders with the tools to dismantle socio-economic barriers that have long plagued impoverished neighborhoods.
A product of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, Lanus attended Forest Heights Elementary, Glen Oaks Middle, and Glen Oaks High School before earning his Bachelor's, Master's, and Juris Doctorate degrees from Southern University—graduating with honors at each level. In December 2019, he made history as one of the youngest members ever elected to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, securing over 60% of the vote for the District 2 community.
What’s Next for the Louisiana Democratic Party?
As executive director, Lanus is expected to spearhead voter outreach initiatives, strengthen local networks, and implement innovative strategies to reenergize the Democratic base. His leadership arrives at a critical time as the party seeks to regain influence in a state where Republican dominance has been pronounced in recent years.
With a strong background in community engagement and advocacy, Lanus’ appointment signals a new era for the Louisiana Democratic Party—one centered on unity, renewal, and long-term political impact.
