BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana residents will votecan still on Saturday, February 15, to elect state senators in the 14th and 23rd senatorial districts. With Election Day approaching, the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office is reminding voters to prepare in advance.
Key Election Deadlines and Voting Information
- Absentee Ballot Requests: The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, February 11, by 4:30 p.m. (excluding military and overseas voters). Voters can request a ballot online through the Voter Portal or in writing through their parish’s Registrar of Voters Office.
- Absentee Ballot Submission: Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the parish Registrar of Voters Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14 (excluding military and overseas voters). Due to potential mail delays, voters using the United States Postal Service (USPS) are encouraged to send ballots as early as possible.
- Polling Hours: On Election Day, polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Any voter in line by 8 p.m. can still cast their ballot.
- Polling Location and Sample Ballots: Voters can find their polling place and view a sample ballot by downloading the GeauxVote Mobile App or visiting GeauxVote.com.
- Voter Identification Requirements: Voters must present a valid ID to cast their ballot. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Louisiana Driver’s License
- Louisiana Special ID Card
- U.S. Passport
- A recognized picture ID with name and signature
- Digital ID via the LA Wallet App
- Election Results: Live election results will be available in real-time through the GeauxVote Mobile App or at sos.la.gov.
