Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ leadership has secured crucial sponsorships to restore Live After 5 to its full six-show schedule, reinforcing his commitment to Baton Rouge’s cultural and economic vitality.
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mayor-President Sid Edwards has played a pivotal role in securing financial backing to restore Live After 5, Baton Rouge’s premier free concert series, to its full six-show schedule. Thanks to his leadership and advocacy, MAPP Construction and b1 Bank have stepped up to provide critical funding after budget constraints threatened to cut the series down to four performances.
The announcement follows Edwards’ keynote speech at the Business Report Power Luncheon, where he passionately emphasized the economic and cultural significance of Live After 5. His remarks galvanized business leaders in attendance, ultimately inspiring the decisive financial support needed to sustain the event.
“For years, Live After 5 has been a catalyst for downtown revitalization, drawing thousands of residents and visitors who not only enjoy live music but also support local restaurants, businesses, and vendors,” Edwards said. “MAPP Construction and b1 Bank wasted no time stepping up to keep the music alive, ensuring Baton Rouge families can continue enjoying this cherished tradition.”
Edwards’ swift action and ability to rally corporate sponsors highlight his commitment to enriching Baton Rouge’s cultural landscape and fostering economic growth. Lauren Lambert-Tompkins, president of Live After Five Inc., praised the mayor’s leadership in securing the series’ financial stability.
“We sincerely thank Mayor-President Edwards for his dedicated efforts to support and sustain Live After Five,” Lambert-Tompkins said. “His recognition of the concert series’ impact underscores his steadfast commitment to our community’s vibrancy.”
Edwards also acknowledged the leadership of MAPP Construction CEO Mike Polito and b1 Bank CEO Jude Melville for their roles in making the sponsorships possible.
Further details, including the concert schedule and lineup, will be announced in the coming weeks.
