BATON ROUGE, La. — The Walls Project invites the community to join MLK Fest 2025, a transformative celebration of service and unity honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. From January 17 to January 20, volunteers and partners will gather to breathe new life into Baton Rouge’s Eden Park neighborhood through impactful projects and community-driven events.
This powerful weekend, powered by the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, will feature mural painting, placemaking, garden bed refreshes, trash cleanup, and blight reduction. The festival will culminate in a vibrant block party and resource fair, complete with live music, food, and critical community services.
Creating Lasting Change
“MLK Fest 2025 is a cornerstone volunteer event in Baton Rouge, bringing our community together to create lasting change,” said Helena Sato, a representative for The Walls Project. “This year, we’re focused on making a big impact in the areas we serve by reducing barriers to poverty and empowering our neighbors to build brighter futures.”
Since its inception as a one-day event in 2015, MLK Fest has grown into a multi-day festival that has mobilized thousands of volunteers to uplift neighborhoods and foster a culture of service.
“This isn’t just about revitalizing spaces—it’s about revitalizing hope,” added Sato. “MLK Fest 2025 gives us a chance to honor Dr. King’s vision of unity by transforming neighborhoods and lives.”
Why Eden Park?
Eden Park, a neighborhood rich in history but burdened by neglect, will be the focal point of this year’s efforts. Volunteers will work to restore pride and create spaces where families can gather, children can play, and residents can thrive.

- Block Party & Resource Fair: The weekend concludes with a celebration featuring local vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, and community services.
