The HBCU Legacy Bowl will be held in New Orleans next February, a week after the Super Bowl during Black History Month.
According to a press release from ESPN, the Legacy Bowl was established to allow NFL draft-eligible athletes to showcase their abilities to recruiters giving HBCU students a better chance at being seen.
“The HBCU Legacy Bowl means opportunity and exposure for HBCU players and coaches,” BCF Hall of Fame inductee Doug Williams said in an interview with ESPN. “We’re excited to have this in New Orleans, especially during Black History Month.”
HBCU football legends Doug Williams and James “Shack” Harris co-founded the Black College Football Hall of Fame to bridge equality.
“HBCUs are a bridge to equality,” said Harris. “We thank the NFL for their support and in sharing our commitment to lifting up others.”
The game will take place in Yulman Stadium at Tulane University. NFL Network will broadcast the game.
