Qualifying Period for March 29 Municipal Primary Election Begins Jan. 29

BATON ROUGE, La. — Qualifying for candidates in the March 29 Municipal Primary Election will be held from January 29 through January 31.

Candidates seeking local office must qualify with the Clerk of Court in their parish. They may either pay a qualifying fee or submit a nominating petition. It is recommended that candidates contact their local Clerk of Court for specific hours. Detailed information, including contact details for Clerk of Court offices, can be found at GeauxVote.com under the "Election Qualifying" link. After qualifying, candidates' names will be listed on the Secretary of State’s website, www.sos.la.gov.

Candidates for Associate Justice from Louisiana Supreme Court District 3 and Court of Appeal, 1st Circuit, 2nd District, Subdistrict 2, Division D, must qualify at the Secretary of State’s Office, located at 8585 Archives Avenue in Baton Rouge. The office is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Qualified candidates will be posted in real-time on the Secretary of State’s website.

As per Louisiana Revised Statutes 18:461 and 18:463, qualifying candidates are required to provide an email address and present a valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card. The email address will be published on the Secretary of State’s website.
