Southern University Nursing Program Crowned Best in U.S.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University’s School of Nursing has earned the title of Best Nursing School in the United States for the first time in its nearly four-decade history. The prestigious recognition was part of the annual Best of Nursing Awards, hosted by Nurse.org, a platform dedicated to supporting and empowering nursing professionals and students.
Southern University’s program stood out among finalists, including Emory University School of Nursing, Florida State University College of Nursing, the University of Michigan School of Nursing, and the University of Washington School of Nursing.
Dr. Sandra Brown, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, described the accolade as a milestone for the university and a testament to the strength of its community.
“Winning this award is not just about recognizing SUSON; it’s a celebration for the entire Jaguar Nation,” Brown said. “This achievement showcases the passion, pride, and perseverance of our students, faculty, and supporters.
