Southern University's Human Jukebox to Perform at Super Bowl in New Orleans
The Human Jukebox has a long history with the Super Bowl, having previously performed at Super Bowl IV in 1970 and Super Bowl XV in 1981—both held in New Orleans. The band also took the stage at last year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University's world-renowned marching band, the Human Jukebox, is set to take the field at the Super Bowl this weekend in New Orleans, marking its fifth appearance at the NFL’s biggest event.
Band director Kedric Taylor confirmed the performance during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show Tuesday, following the band’s trip to Los Angeles for the Honda Battle of the Bands. The annual showcase highlights the musical excellence of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

While Southern University has not released official details about its role in the event, The New York Times reported that the band will perform before Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste sings the national anthem.
The Super Bowl, one of the most-watched sporting events worldwide, will take place Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
