Thousands Lose Power in East Baton Rouge Parish During Severe Weather

BATON ROUGE – Severe storms rocked East Baton Rouge Parish on Saturday night, leaving thousands of residents without electricity as heavy rain and strong winds swept through the area.

Entergy reported 5,490 outages across the parish, while DEMCO confirmed 3,240 customers were affected as of 7:25 p.m. Crews are working around the clock to restore power and assess the damage caused by the storm.

A tornado warning was issued earlier in the evening, prompting residents to take shelter and stay alert. While the full extent of the storm’s impact is still being evaluated, downed trees and power lines have been reported in several neighborhoods.

Residents can track power restoration progress by visiting the outage maps on Entergy and DEMCO’s websites. Officials urge the public to stay cautious, avoid downed power lines, and report outages through the utility companies’ hotlines.

Stay tuned for updates as recovery efforts continue.
