Tornado Warning Issued Near Baton Rouge; Much of Louisiana Under Tornado Watch

BATON ROUGE, La. – The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for East Feliciana and West Feliciana parishes early Saturday morning, as severe weather swept across the region. A broader tornado watch covering much of Louisiana, from Baton Rouge to Shreveport, remains in effect until 3 p.m.
A fast-moving storm near Zachary, located just north of Baton Rouge, was tracking northeast at 20 mph, prompting the tornado warning. The National Weather Service also cautioned residents across the watch area to prepare for damaging winds reaching up to 70 mph and the possibility of large hail.
More than 4.9 million residents are affected by the tornado watch, which spans a significant portion of the state. Officials are urging caution as conditions remain favorable for the development of additional tornadoes.
