Beginning June 1, the 2024 hurricane season is forecasted to be one of the most intense on record, driven by La Niña conditions and unprecedentedly warm Atlantic Ocean waters.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), these climatic factors are likely to contribute to a surge in storm activity. Researchers at Colorado State University anticipate a total of 23 named storms, including 11 hurricanes, with five of these expected to escalate into major hurricanes.
