Democrats Respond to Biden Debate Criticism
Rep. Jasmine Crockett joins Ali Velshi to react to Biden’s debate performance, urging Democrats to avoid unnecessary panicking. "It’s almost like we’re scared of our shadow sometimes," Crockett says. They also discuss why the dangers of Trump far outweigh concerns about Biden’s age. “I don’t really care if he was off for 90 minutes and didn’t put on like people wanted him to put on,” Crockett says. “The reality is that he is 50,000 times better than Trump… and he has over 34 felony convictions and still has 50 pending.”

Rep. Crockett Urges Democrats to Stay Focused Amid Biden Debate Scrutiny

WASHINGTON D.C. — Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett from Texas, a House Agriculture and House Oversight and Accountability Committees member, has responded to criticism of President Joe Biden’s recent debate performance, calling for unity and perspective among Democrats.

Rep. Crockett downplayed the significance of Biden's debate performance in a candid discussion. "I don't know what the right approach to the debate is, but a poor debate performance by an 80-year-old man who has dedicated much to this country should not be a major concern," Crockett stated. "People need to slow down and consider the bigger picture."

“I don’t really care if he was off for 90 minutes and didn’t put on like people wanted him to put on,” Crockett says. “The reality is that he is 50,000 times better than Trump… and he has over 34 felony convictions and still has 50 pending.”

Crockett expressed frustration with what she described as Democrats' tendency to overreact to such events. "It’s almost like we’re scared of our shadows sometimes. We understand the stakes and demand the best, but we must recognize Biden's compassionate nature and dedication," she said.

Rep. Crockett acknowledged that Biden has never been known for his oratory skills, contrasting him with former President Barack Obama, known for his eloquence, and former President Donald Trump, who she described as a relentless talker despite lacking substance. She criticized Trump for attempting to take credit for Biden’s achievements, including legislation on insulin prices. "Trump is crazy and evil, claiming credit for my legislation. He’s clearly not fit for office," she remarked.

Highlighting the importance of government workers' loyalty to the country over any administration, Crockett warned against the far-right's Project 2025. "They aim to install loyalists, not dedicated public servants like my mother, who serve under any administration with loyalty to the Constitution and the people," she asserted.

Crockett argued that despite a lackluster debate performance, Biden remains a far better option than Trump. "Biden is vastly superior to Trump, who faces 34 felony charges yet retains support. We must choose a path that protects our rights and values," she urged.

She also pointed out the real impact of Democratic policies on American communities, citing infrastructure improvements, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the reduction in insulin costs as key achievements. "It's time to choose ourselves and the team that delivers real results," she said.

Rep. Crockett concluded by emphasizing the stark contrast between the two political paths available to Americans. "You can either go with Donald Trump, who has given us a harmful Supreme Court and plans to install more unqualified judges, or you can support Joe Biden, who fights for reproductive rights, equality, and economic stability. The choice is clear."

Crockett's remarks underscore the urgency for Democrats to stay focused and united, recognizing the broader implications of their decisions and maintaining their commitment to progress and justice.
