Urgent Community Alert: New Concealed Carry Law Demands Immediate Attention

BAKER, La. — Following the recent passage of a significant new concealed carry law that permits any law-abiding citizen to carry a concealed firearm without a license, local officials are calling on the community to attend a crucial informational meeting. This meeting will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Baker Branch Library, located at 3501 Groom Road.

District 4 Councilmember Robert Young and Lt. Randolph Harrell of the Baker Police Department will host the session, aiming to clarify the details and implications of the new law for Baker residents. With the law’s changes impacting legal and public safety landscapes, the meeting is designed to answer critical questions and provide a comprehensive understanding of the new regulations.

"This is a pivotal moment for our community," said Councilmember Young. "The new law changes the landscape of concealed carry, and it's vital that our residents are informed about their rights and responsibilities. This meeting will provide the clarity everyone needs to navigate these changes effectively."
Lt. Harrell emphasized the importance of community engagement, noting, "Understanding how this new law affects you is crucial for ensuring safety and compliance. This meeting will address your concerns and help you grasp the full scope of what the new legislation entails."

This session is not a concealed carry class but a critical opportunity for residents to become well-informed about how the law impacts them personally and the community at large. Attendance is strongly encouraged to ensure everyone is prepared and knowledgeable about their new rights and responsibilities.

For those who wish to understand the new law’s implications and ensure they are up-to-date with current regulations, this meeting is a must-attend event.
