CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Walmart has announced the closure of its corporate office in Charlotte, North Carolina, leading to layoffs and employee relocations.
More than 150 employees were laid off in September as part of the transition. The company is now asking the remaining employees to relocate to corporate offices in California or Arkansas.
In a letter sent to employees Tuesday, a Walmart representative stated that the move is intended to "streamline" operations.
The retail giant recently unveiled its new corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, where it has been based since its founding.
